A blog in 2023?!

Yes. And I'm excited about it too!

I'm a writer by nature, it just makes sense to start a blog. In the world of TikTok and YouTube, it's kind of nice to go back to the basics. (You can still find me on TikTok though, as well as Instagram. Balance.)

Hi. My name is Steph and this is my blog. I write about my thoughts, of which I have many. Most of my thoughts are expansive, like asking myself about the nature of reality, the nature of God and the Universe, and what it means to be human. It can get a little intense inside my head sometimes and writing has always been a good outlet to free up some space in my skull.

I have had a pretty interesting life and learned a lot of lessons and I think I have some important things to say. People tell me that I make them think, and that's the biggest compliment I could receive. I hope I can make you think at some point too.

Some things about me:

• I was born in the UK, and now live in Canada.

• I was born into a cult, but my family left when I was young. We never went through any deprogramming though, so I carried the religious trauma around for most of my life. It drove me to evangelical christianity which is, in my experience, its own kind of cult, though more widespread and far more acceptable. I left the church a few years ago and went through an intense period of deconstructing everything I had been taught, stemming back to childhood.

• I still love Jesus. I don't love church.

• I read tarot cards now. It started as a way to break out of my own fears, but turned into a love for art, archetype, and spirituality in a general sense. • I have two kids. They are completely different from each other, and parenting them has been my greatest accomplishment to date.

• I have been divorced once, and next year I will have been divorced twice.

• I aim to be soft, strong, and humble. Sometimes that looks like weakness, arrogance, and indecisiveness. I guess I'm sometimes those things too.

• I have learned to love myself despite a lifetime of being told that I was born a sinner, undeserving of God's love. The biggest lesson I have learned is that God loves me, and I am allowed to love myself.

• I illustrated a book once. It was a lot of fun. You can find it here.

• My hair is naturally curly, and my eyes are naturally blue (I get asked those things a lot).

• I'm an introvert and I also really love people.

• I'm glad you're here. Legitimately.
